The View from New New Alville
While a couple of posts are brewing, I thought I'd share with you a few snaps from my own little plot of Second Life - New New Alville. The guy in the floating chair is my RL and SL chum, Hiram Taurog, all togged up for a business meeting. I hope he won't mind when I say that his avatar bears an uncanny resemblance to his RL self.
I also thought that most of these Windlight pics came out pretty well, I hope you like them - at least 1 or 2 them - too.

Ambling, I'm glad you've continued to update your blog with your Second Life explorations. I don't get as much time as I'd like to wander the SLandscape, so I like to be vicarious through your journeys.
Also, thanx for the passive tip re: the PictoBrowser, I first heard of it from you and it looks like a fun, embedded way to show off pictures within a post!
I really like the WindLight snapshots you've been doing, too. Thanks for using WindLight.
All the best. :)
Hi Torley!
Thanks for your support, though I think you are the most travelled watermelon fanatic I know. When googling a new site (to me) I usually find you've blogHUD'd it weeks or months earlier.
Regarding Windlight: at least at dawn and dusk settings, it is The Business. It could do with some "avatar friendly" options in the pulldown list tho'. Lots of complaints about ugly avatars. Doesn't bother me so much - I'd be an ugly avi under any lighting. :-)
Hi Al - I'm loving the new WindLight photos too! Oh and by the way I just tagged you (sorry but Gwyn, Onder, and Hamlet all sent the "evil meme" my way!)
On the grounds that (a) 98% of the known blogosphere has prolly now been tagged and (b) I have nothing to say that is of interest to me, let alone to the rest of the pixelverse, I am "considering my options"
Ah diggity darnit, I meant to say "Aleister", not "Ambling" as your name! Pardon.
I haven't been traveling as much lately inworld — work & First Life busy-ness, or something like it!
Re: WindLight, I've heard a lot about the "ugly avatars" and there are several forthcoming measures to address that (gee, that sounds formal), including tweaking the default day cycle (and other under-the-hood) to be better.
I've also heard the feature suggestion of making avatar meshes full bright (like how objects can for a "flat" look), and see how that could be useful.
Cheerio!
